About Hook Physiotherapy
Since qualifying as a physiotherapist, I have worked in a number of different settings, including within the NHS, but since 2010 have specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, working within busy London based clinics.
My interest in running related injuries, combined with my experience as an elite athlete, has led me to work with some of the country’s leading physiotherapists in this field, as well as giving me the opportunity to work at a number of the IAAF Diamond leagues in London, treating top Olympic athletes.
My broad experience, means that I am not only dedicated to treating sports injuries, but do also welcome all individuals, whether you require physiotherapy to get you back to competing on the athletics track or to regain range of movement in your wrist following a fracture.
Experience
I have completed a number of post graduate courses, including a specialist running techniques course and becoming a qualified acupuncturist with the AACP. Enhancing my skills and knowledge is something I am committed to, undertaking regular courses and seminars, as well keeping up to date with evidence and research to provide the best possible assessment and treatment for my patients.
As a healthcare professional, I belong to a number of regulatory bodies and focus groups, including being a registered member of the health and care professions council, the chartered society of physiotherapy and the acupuncture association of chartered physiotherapists. As well as this, I work closely with local GP’s and consultants to ensure optimum care is provided for each patient.
Previous Qualifications
Previous to qualifying as a physiotherapist, I completed a BSc degree in Sports Science from Loughborough University, which has aided my career greatly, with enhanced knowledge of various aspects of sports nutrition, psychology, and biomechanics, all playing a large role in physiotherapy.
Having hung up my spikes, I now enjoy being part of the local Hook runners club, getting out for a muddy run and the odd cross country. My involvement, in both elite and recreational sport, has given me a wide knowledge of sports participants and their requirements at all levels, specifically in relation to rehabilitation and injury prevention. As well as being kept busy with my love of running and physiotherapy, I am a busy mum of 3 young daughters.
